The key features of IOSH training

IOSH

Who is IOSH for?

IOSH training is targeted at both individuals and organisations.

Individually, the training ensures you are fully prepared for any incidents and can also prepare and help reduce the hazard risk in your workplace. The qualification is also good for CVs.

For an organisation IOSH training will ensure all employees are completely qualified and prepared for health and safety situations and again, can also reduce the risk in the workplace. The courses will also ensure your managers are able to manage the health and safety needs of your team – a legal requirement in any company.

IOSH is typically aimed at anybody, at any level and in any sector. The nature of the course means its contents are applicable to all situations rather than any specific one. Some of the options are specifically aimed at higher level employees but this will be covered in the next section.

What IOSH Qualifications are there?

There are 4 different IOSH qualifications and these are IOSH Working Safely, IOSH, Supervising Safely, IOSH Safety for Senior Executives and IOSH Directing Safely.

Each of these are aimed at different job levels within a company. Working Safely is targeted at people at any level and gives you grounding on the essentials of health and safety. Supervising Safely is aimed at those with a supervisory function in their role and need to be able to comply with their health and safety responsibilities. Safety for Senior Executives is for senior managers who have to determine and implement effective health and safety management. Finally Directing Safely is for those involved in the strategic element of health and safety in their organisation.

How do I become accredited?

To become IOSH registered you must attend the training relevant for you and your job role. The training lasts a variation of days depending on the course you are attending and at the end you will have to sit an exam to show you have understood the contents of the day’s training. After this you will receive your certificate and become officially qualified.
