When visiting a new prospect, the most awkward part is usually the first few minutes because a new prospect is focusing on you. Can they trust what you are saying, do you have the appropriate knowledge and experience, or will you just say what they want to hear?
During the first few minutes of a new meeting, more reliance is placed upon instincts and observation because a new prospect is listening, watching and weighing you up. We all subconsciously rely on body language but much more so in the early stages of a new meeting.
Assuming your body language matches what has been said and it is relevant to them, then the first stage of rapport has been achieved. Instincts that initially were focused on you have now changed to the real purpose of the meeting.
Sometimes we fail part one because we concentrate solely on the prospect and forget to make sure that we are coming across okay. [read more]

As you are probably aware ITIL version 3 has been around for a while now and there has been a phasing out of version 2 products since June this year.
There are further deadlines approaching for the following products:
- V2 Practitioner to cease 31 Dec 2010
- Foundation Bridge to cease 31 Dec 2010
So if you currently hold either ITIL v2 Practitioner or ITIL v2 Foundation qualifications then you have until the end of December 2010 to update these via a Bridging training course or you will need to re-certify. [read more]

Cisco have recently announced major updates to the Voice and Security certification tracks. Each professional level certification track has been re-branded, CCNP Voice and CCNP Security, and includes major course updates as well as new course introductions. These new revisions/introductions reflect a focus on “job role” objectives rather than “product features” as earlier tracks incorporated.

Changes to the CCVP Track (CCNP Voice)
The new Professional Voice certification is now called CCNP Voice and introduces two new courses and updates on existing courses to reflect Unified Communications v8.0.
- CCVP changes name to CCNP Voice
- All 3 Skill levels refreshed/updated (Associate, Professional & Expert) to Cisco Collaboration v8.0
- Still 1 x associate level & 5 Professional level classes to sit/Exams to take [read more]
